pinion flange nut: 1

Got it all apart and back together for the most part, except now one of the bolts for the diff cover won't thread in and the tap/die set is at my friends house. And the driveshaft won't spline together correctly. Oh well, I'll deal with that tomorrow, gotta let the RTV dry before refilling things anyways.

I replaced a pair of pinion seals for Land Rover axles a little over a week ago - for a project going back together. Smaller, leather (!) -at least the originals were, and in a detaching flange so easy to get in and out.

The setting of the pinion bearings to the correct tension was a bit more fiddly, but I was lucky enough not to have anything break or go squirrely, unlike you.
